Trout Unlimited is working with ranchers like Randy Mannix to restore key fish habitat such as Wasson Creek in Montana, a tiny tributary to the Blackfoot River that provides critical spawning areas for native cutthroat trout. By improving stream flows and riparian habitat, TU is helping Western rivers and streams survive the challenges of drought, fire and climate uncertainty.

Beginning in 2007 the ranch partnered with Trout Unlimited to improve Wasson Creek as key fish spawning ground for cutthroat trout coming up from the Blackfoot river. In just a few short years, the progress has been amazing!

MSGA's manager of communications Ariel Overstreet and multimedia intern Lauren Chase interviewed the multi-generational Mannix Family in Helmville, Montana. It takes most of the members of three-brother ranch to gather cattle, operate balers, manage irrigation, prepare meals, and all other ranch tasks.
